Community Blog

We are about to begin the process of rolling out a new design for this web site and blog today. During the time some links or pages may appear broken or unstyled. We thank you for your patience. When we are finished we will update this post with further details.

Update (3:32PM PST) - design update is almost done. We still have a few more things we are chasing down, but by all means, leave us your feedback and tell us what you think!

Could you re-fix the comments feed to
and
the comment permalink please :-/?

Very nice :) ..should offer this design via StyleCatcher, I'm sure it would be very popular.

simply beautiful :) Jesse does great work

Ohhh this is a sweet look. Good work Jesse :)

There are two alpha PNGs on the front page that don't appear to have an IE6- fix applied to them.

The sidebar is dropping under the content column on internal pages for me.

Top nav seems a little low-contrast to me.

Otherwise very nice.

If this blog is installed on MT4, then how did you get your URL to used the-dash-effect rather than the_underscore_effect? I can not find the option in the admin interface. What am I missing?

The home page is way too wide. I have to make my browser window almost full screen on my 1280x1024 display, it makes me feel like those Windows users who all browse in full screen because their OS was not designed to display more than one window at a time. Eurk.

Nice! (I was secretly hoping for a design refresh before MT4 hit prod!)

@Paul - Navigate to your Archive template where you edit your template maps and paths, and select the URL pattern that you desire (dashes and underscore supported).

Dashes have become the default as of Beta 5 in order for search engine optimization.

Looks very nice! I like it, very clean and straight forward.

What does all the body text on this page look to me like my ink jet is running out of ink? I'm using Firefox 2.0.0.4 Just wondering

Does this theme will available in the stylecatcher?

Looks great ! Couldn't resist trying Beta 5 on Vista/Apache and am happy I did it - it looks awesome.

Good job with the dashes versus the underscore. Too bad that Google just changed the way how they treat the underscore. See

The change causes now a lot of headaches for our blog that is several years old. All links to old posts became invalid and the search engines started to re-index everything with new URLs causing a drop out of the search results. No 301 redirects to the new URLs is being done. I did not do the upgrade to the new MT version, but make sure that you warn about the change and don't just do it. Leave the option to keep the URLs to old entries unchanged and make the option to change it between dash and underscore somewhat more accessible in the blog settings instead of bury it in a template setting. I hope I can find it now after reading your description.

Cheers!

It worked great for one blog, but we have 62 blogs. Please don't tell me that I have to change each and every one of them manually and then also have to re-publish each one manually. Is there a way to change it for all blogs and publish the change across all blogs at once?

Thanks
