Today we are excited to announce the official release of a brand new and completely redesigned Movable Type Plugin Directory. This new directory is a resource designed and developed by and for the community.The Directory is powered completely by Movable Type 4.0 enabling us to build a site that contains a number new features and enhancements its predecessor never had:
- local authentication and registration to make it easier for developers to manage their contributions
- customizable screenshot slideshows for users to more easily preview a plugin's functionality
- ratings to help the community inform one another about what is most popular and most recommended
- reviews and comments allowing users to leave feedback to the author of the plugin
- tags to assist visitors in navigation and discovery of plugins
- restructured category hierarchy for a simplified and more organized directory
It really is a whole new world for Movable Type: there's a new product, a new web site, a new plugin directory and a bunch of new plugins that work with MT4... and believe it or not, we are still just getting started. The coming weeks and months still have a lot in store for the community. Stay tuned!

This is great. A problem to date has been that plugins have not been really integrated into the community. Why not add a centralized plug-in repository?

One really slick part of the new plugin directory -- plugin authors can designate a feed as the source of news for their plugin, so that the plugin page includes information any time they update it.

This directory is great, but you have removed the comments below every plugin and now it is difficult for users to read the opinions from other users about every plugin.

What is really cool in this plugin directory is the option for user to preview the action that every particular plugin do before even installing it. It helps a lot when few similar plugins are taken into the account.

The plugin directory is a great feature offered from Moveable type to their users. With it I can easily find the needed plugin and have a clear idea what the plugin will do.

In my opinion the best thing in the plugin directory is the preview of how the plugin will impact on my site. It is really awesome and it is something I haven't seen in other platform. Keep going in that way.
