We talk a lot about community here on movabletype.org, so it's only appropriate that we hear back from all of you, especially after the recent release of the Movable Type Community Solution. There's been a terrific response, so let's cover some highlights:
- Our new Community Solution-powered Movable Type Forums are starting to show off what an MT-powered forum can do. The forums themselves are still in beta as we test out exactly how they'll work, but they're already worth a look.
- Jesse Gardner's been building out an MTCS-powered site, and he's offered some enticing first impressions of the new offering.
- Tim Appnel weighs in with his own thoughts, picking up on a key point: "The Community Solution does indeed provided the ability to host forums using the MT engine, but it does a lot more too."

So what about those of use who would love this feature, but cannot afford a paid solution? For instance I maintain a website/weblog that only my friends and family use. While this would be an amazing addition, again, I wouldn't be able to afford it. That is unless it super cheap!

The start of Custom Fields as Tim Appnel said is something really important for every coder around MT. To build your own data model is giving you lots of possibilities.

Well, I've been looking for days for this site - Learning Movable Type and I've been asking in the forum and here on some comments about Moveable Type's tutorials and things like that with no response. Today I suddenly found this page and voila - the answer was here.

This is way I use only Movable Type. There is none other CMS of that level which could be used as a blog platform, CMS, social bookmark site and forum. You need to learn just one system, but you get all needed options.

I agree with Jesse on his opinion about Template Sets. It is really the best part of Movable Type. These three sets are ready to go and with very simple installation you will have a professional looking site for nothing.

Unfortunately learningmovabletype seems to me like an abandonment project. The last entry there is from 2011, but the previous are from 2008. You should keep writing there I think.
