Posted January 17, 2008, in News.

Tonight we released the first release candidate for Movable Type 4.1. This release signals that the product is converging upon a final and shippable version of the product. You can download it now from http://movabletype.org/beta/. Important changes in this release include:

Read the complete change log to familiarize yourself with all the other fixes found in this most recent release.

In the spirit of full disclosure we are planning a release of a second release candidate early next week. The scope of this release includes one final and additional feature for paid users of Movable Type in addition to our final translations and localization changes for Movable Type 4.1.

But even if there is one more release candidate planned, this is still the perfect opportunity for all those people waiting for a more stable release to try out the latest features of Movable Type. And here's a tip - if you are an MT 3.x user and are even thinking about buying the Commercial version of Movable Type to take advantage of the extra features that it includes then I suggest evaluating RC1 now and purchasing the MT4 upgrade package before the introductory discount prices expire. Because did you know that everyone who purchased Movable Type 4.0 is entitled to a free upgrade to 4.1 when it is released? Yes they are.

Any hint about what that additional feature is? Just so we can figure out whether or not we should go paid version.

Will the non-profit version include custom-fields?

Great to hear that Byrne! I can honestly say that MT is by far the best content management application I have worked with. The templating system is the most flexible and now with custom fields built-in.. I don’t need anything else. To some it might be just a blogging platform.. but for me.. it’s the system I build my ENTIRE site around.

You have no idea how great it is to hear that from a user! Thank you Carlo. Now, we just need to spread the word and get more people to see what you have seen for some time.

I’ve been searching all around but I haven’t found a way to make it work so that once a user registers in one blog.. he can post on all of the system blogs automatically. Can this be done with 4.1?

Pauline Moveable Type is not just a paid CMS. It has free version where you can have almost all the needed tools for making a site. Of course, there is a premium version which is paid, but you can run a great site without paying a single penny.

Does the change in search results affected the search over the comments? I think I have seen something about omitting the comments when the search bot is looking for information. If this is true, how can I make so the comments appear in the search results?

Hi, I have a question about paid version. If I have understand it correctly a user who pays for Movable Typa package should pay for the upgrades too. Is it true?

Hello and greetings. I wonder where can we find more information about the discount offered by Movable Type for its products. Thank you in advance for the answer.
